The University of Hildesheim, the Technische Universität Braunschweig and Leibniz University Hannover have jointly acquired start-up funding for new professorships as part of the call Strengthening Empirical Educational Research in Lower Saxony (Stärkung der empirischen Bildungsforschung in Niedersachsen), and will establish a Research Alliance for Intervention, Implementation and Transfer Research (Forschungsallianz zur Interventions-, Implementations- und Transferforschung, FI2T). In the context of research-based optimization of learning scenarios in real-world organizational settings, the Research Alliance aims to demonstrate the effectiveness of educational interventions and to identify specific conditions of their successful implementation and broad deployment. Initiating joint research projects, building up collaborative structures in order to support early-career researchers in empirical educational research, and promoting the transfer of research findings are among the core activities of the Research Alliance. Complementary to the new professorships Research on Professional Development in Education and Transformative School Development/Educational Innovation and Change at the Hildesheim and Hanover locations, which are also involved in the research alliance, the focus of the professorship advertised here is on the (further) development of empirical research methods in the context of educational intervention, implementation and transfer research. With the aim of adapting research designs to the complex reality of education, the professorship focuses on important methodological challenges of field-valid and at the same time methodologically sound designs in the multi-level system of education with small case numbers. The candidate (f/m/d) should have methodological expertise in the field of mixed methods, with a focus on quantitative methods. The successful candidate (f/m/d) is expected to be committed to the university’s strategic goals and to actively shape its holistic development (). In addition to the classic service areas of a university (research, teaching and studies, transfer, governance and administration), this applies in particular to digitalisation, internationalisation, equality and diversity, as well as knowledge exchange.Our expectations
- Proven research in the field of educational intervention, implementation and transfer research
- Emphasis on methodological issues, with a focus on small case numbers, change measurement and mixed methods
- Acquisition of third-party funding
- Willingness to support people in the early academic career phase
- Broad teaching experience in educational science
- Ability and willingness to teach in German and English
- Experience with and willingness to participate in the self-administration of the university as well as the scientific organization and the organization of study programs
- Willingness to further develop the profile of the Institute of Educational Science
- Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary cooperation within the institute, the faculty, TU Braunschweig and with non-university research institutions
- Willingness to contribute to the internationalization of the university
- Strong teamwork, management and leadership skills
Requirements, § 25 NHG
- A degree in a relevant field
- Pedagogical aptitude
- Special qualification for in-depth independent scientific work, as a rule proven by an above-average doctorate
- Additional academic achievements, usually within the framework of a junior professorship, a post-doctoral degree (Habilitation) or through achievements equivalent to a Habilitation
