Welcome to DESY! DESY is one of the world鈥檚 leading accelerator centres. Researchers use the large-scale facilities at DESY to explore the microcosm in all its variety 鈥� from the interactions of tiny elementary particles and the behaviour of new types of nanomaterials to biomolecular processes that are essential to life. The accelerators and detectors that DESY develops and builds are unique research tools. The facilities generate the world鈥檚 most intense X-ray light, accelerate particles to record energies and open completely new windows onto the universe.
You will find an international and interdisciplinary work environment with more than 2,400 DESYans working in many different professional fields 鈥� among others in natural sciences, IT, economic and engineering sciences, administration and technology. The research centre DESY offers a large number of sophisticated scientific and non-scientific occupations with diverse career opportunities as well as a wide range of training programmes. The unique working environment on the science campus and being part of the DESY community as an DESYan makes it so special to work for us. Which qualities are you looking for in a person wanting to join your business/institute?
We are looking for people with commitment and initiative. You should be interested in an international work environment and open to the world of science. The best way to do that is to bring a certain fascination for science and technology with you, as well as a bit of curiosity to think outside the box. But most of all you should have fun with Trial & Error!
What鈥檚 the most valuable advice you can give for interviewees at your business/institution?
Please always submit your application in full. This includes: an individualized letter of motivation, a current curriculum vitae and full credentials. If your CV has major gaps, it would be an advantage if you explain them already in the covering letter. Please bring some patience. Due to the large number of invitations to tender and applications, there can be occasional delays in the selection process.
