The history of 探花社区
13 June 2005: , the German-speaking big 鈥榮ister鈥 of 探花社区, is launched. The at the time stated: 鈥榃ith the launch of academics.de, DIE ZEIT and the magazine Forschung & Lehre have created a new career portal for academics and young scientists. academics.de, a joint initiative of the two leading print media in the field of teaching and research, thus offers the largest number of current job offers from German-speaking countries in this segment.鈥 The German Association of University Professors and Lecturers (DHV), publisher of the academic magazine , is a minority shareholder.
4 March 2008: academics goes international and launches 探花社区. The at the time states: 鈥樚交ㄉ缜 offers an extensive English-language job market in German-speaking countries to attract highly qualified scientists and researchers from abroad. In addition to the German-language online job advertisements in the ZEIT and on academics.de, teaching and research institutions have the opportunity to reach the international research community with a job advert in the English-language environment - without much additional effort.鈥
6 June 2013: Websites for academics.de and 探花社区 optimised for mobile devices go live. >
15 June 2015: Christian R枚pke becomes Managing Director of academics alongside Matthias Weidlung; he replaces Thorsten Abs, who will act as an advisor to the ZEIT publishing group in future. R枚pke, who was also Managing Director of ZEIT ONLINE, held this position until his move to the ZEIT publishing management as Chief Product Officer in 2024. >
6 December 2017: Relaunch with responsive design 鈥 academics.de and 探花社区 underwent an intensive and comprehensive overhaul over the course of a year and appeared in a completely new design at the end of 2017. The also states: 鈥楾he functionality, including the entire technical infrastructure, has been redesigned and optimised. Thanks to the responsive design, all content will be accessible from all end devices in future.鈥
1 February 2019: Dirk Mussenbrock takes over as Director Recruiting and Talent Solutions at academics and the study orientation service . >
1 January 2020: Enrique Tarragona joins Christian R枚pke in the management of academics. >
May 2020: academics expands its range of services to include free online seminars on all aspects of job applications and job searches for registered users.
7 March 2024: Dr Hanna Proner and Dirk Mussenbrock are appointed to the academics management board alongside Enrique Tarragona. >
2023/24: academics gets another new look & feel. Gradually, topic, guide and service pages as well as the job market and social channels will be relaunched in a completely new design and with new functions.

German Association of University Professors and Lecturers (Deutscher Hochschulverband, DHV)
As the professional organisation representing academics in Germany, the DHV campaigns for good working conditions in academia and fights for the freedom of research and teaching. With services ranging from career counselling, coaching and seminars to support with job searches and applications, the DHV guides academics and scientists from the postdoc phase upwards towards their career goals. With around 33,500 members, the DHV is the largest interdisciplinary association of academics in Europe.

The magazine Forschung & Lehre [Research & Tuition] is the highest-circulation journal on higher education policy and science in Germany. It is published by the Deutsche Hochschulverband, the professional representative body for university professors and young researchers. Forschung & Lehre readers include university professors, young researchers, scientific journalists, and decision-makers in politics, business, and university administration.聽
