in the project Information Infrastructure (Z-INF) of the Collaborative Research Centre/Transregio (CRC/TRR) 270 HoMMage – Hysteresis Design of Magnetic Materials for Efficient Energy Conversion.

Start of contract:as soon as possible

Working Time: 50% of a full-time position with option to increase to 100% by working due to other third-party funded projects

The Z-INF project plays an essential role in ensuring the sustainability and accessibility of the research data produced within the framework of this CRC/TRR, which is hosted at Technical University of Darmstadt and the University of Duisburg-Essen. This project provides interfaces to facilitate the provision and search for the partly heterogeneous data within the CRC/TRR. You will act as an expert, consultant and teacher in the field of research data management. The handling, processing and storage of the data will be carried out from the beginning of the project with a view to further use in the context of analytical machine learning techniques and will be implemented in more detail in later funding periods. The vision is to explore the relationships between material processing, structure and magnetic properties based on the data obtained by the consortium and to develop a virtual counterpart that allows predictions for previously unrealized magnetic materials and structures.

Your responsibilities

  • You will perform coordination and research tasks in the Information Infrastructure (Z-INF) project of the CRC/TRR 270.
  • You will work closely with the Z-INF project partners at TU Darmstadt.
  • In the subproject Z-INF, you will be responsible for the management of the users and contents of the digital laboratory notebook platform eLabFTW of the CRC/TRR 270.
  • You develop processes and associated computer scripts for importing/exporting/migrating lab book data.
  • You define meta-data templates and descriptions for the lab book data.
  • You will prepare the data for further processing in the context of machine learning and advise the members of the CRC/TRR 270 on this technology.
  • You will advise the members of the CRC/TRR 270 on the FAIR principles in the context of research data management.
  • You will network within the various local, national and international research data initiatives, e.g. RDS@UDE, FAIRmat, NFDI4Ing.

Your profile

  • above-average university degree in a subject of engineering, physics, or materials science of at least 8 semesters standard period of study; Doctorate desirable
  • previous scientific experience in research data management
  • knowledge in the use of electronic laboratory notebooks, ideally eLabFTW
  • programming experience, ideally Python
  • Very good written and spoken German and English skills (English C1, German B2)
  • Within the framework of the activity, the opportunity for further scientific qualification is offered.
