Your Duties:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual who will take responsibility for the area of appointment with the following focal areas:- risk management
- sustainability management
- finance
- general business administration
- In terms of teaching, the professorship is primarily involved in the undergraduate Bachelor’s and Master’s study programmes of the Department of Economics as well as in relevant modules of study programmes offered by other departments on both campuses and thus promotes interdisciplinary cooperation with the other departments of the university.
- A particular focus is placed on practice-oriented teaching and on the courses of the Bachelor's and Master's study programmes it will be particularly important to you to convey the subject connections in the area of appointment in an application-oriented way. Your commitment to further training programmes is expected.
- You will be committed to strengthening the specialist profile of the department, will work on an interdisciplinary basis in the context of cross-departmental cooperation on both campuses and will be involved in the development of the range of programmes offered.
- We expect you to successfully develop areas of research emphasis in the area of appointment and, if the conditions are met, to participate in our Doctoral Centre for Social, Health and Economic Sciences. To this end, you will find a research-friendly environment here.
- It goes without saying that you will be committed to technology and knowledge transfer and cooperation with regional and international stakeholders as well as to contributing to the development of the university.
- Moreover, it is important to us that you be involved in academic self-governance.
Your Profile:
You will be a good fit with us if you are an enthusiastic teacher and researcher and enjoy supporting our students with their learning as well as encouraging them in their chosen career.
- You will have successfully completed a university degree in the economic sciences or a closely related discipline and have a particular aptitude for scientific work, which will usually have been demonstrated by a good doctoral degree. Furthermore, you will have published work relevant to the area of the appointment.
- You are able to demonstrate pedagogic experience, preferably in several of the following areas: corporate governance, quantitative methods, legal aspects of risk and sustainability management, data science, financial psychology and are in a position to convey information clearly and practically, be it face-to-face, online or in hybrid/blended learning scenarios. Experience in teaching in a university or a comparable educational setting as well as working with learning platforms will be advantageous.
- You will be able to demonstrate particular achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods in the area of the appointment. You will have accomplished these in professional practice of at least three years’ duration outside of the higher education sector.
- Ideally you will have experience in the acquisition of third-party funds and the management of research projects. Equally, international experience is highly desirable.
- You know how to convey scientific knowledge in an easily understandable way in both German and English and to communicate securely in German in everyday life at the university.
The general conditions of appointment for professors are derived from § 35 of the current version of the Saxony-Anhalt Higher Education Act.
Provided that the relevant requirements are met (assuming, among other things, that the candidate is under the age of 52) the appointee will be granted temporary civil servant status, otherwise they will be granted salaried employee status under private law limited for 5 years.
