W2 PROFESSORSHIP (M/F/D) OF THEOLOGICAL ETHICS

The Faculty of Catholic Theology at the Ruhr-Universit盲t Bochum invites applications for the position of a Professor of Theological Ethics (W2) commencing October 1st, 2025. The future post holder should comprehensively represent the field of theological ethics (individual ethics and social ethics) in research and teaching. Depending on qualifications in individual or social ethics, a further field of activity in research and teaching in the other area of theological ethics is expected. Additional supporting resources will be made available for teaching and research in this area. In terms of content, a high level of professional sensitivity for the special ethical challenges of the Ruhr region and corresponding interdisciplinary cooperation are expected. This also includes active participation in the Ruhr University Alliance with the Dortmund and Duisburg/Essen sites. Against the background of the faculty's research programme, which contextualises theology, interdisciplinary cooperation is also required, particularly with the religious sciences, as well as the further development of existing and new research perspectives. Positive evaluation as a junior professor, habilitation or equivalent academic achievement and evidence of special aptitude are just as much required as the willingness to participate in the self-governing bodies of the Ruhr-Universit盲t Bochum and to generally get involved in university processes according to Ruhr-Universit盲t Bochum鈥檚 mission statement. The candidate has to meet the appointment requirements according to section 36 ff. Hochschulgesetz NRW. Furthermore, the following are expected

• degree in Catholic Theology;
• a relevant canonical doctorate;
• a high level of commitment to teaching and expertise in university didactics;
• a willingness to network individual and socio-ethical research in the Ruhr region;
• an internationally visible profile in the subject area;
• proven success in acquiring externally funded research projects.
