Duties:
The professorship belongs to the Institute of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry at Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU).

Your research focus will be on a current field in instrumental analytics and align with e.g. the JLU-s areas of potential "Bioresources (Focus: insects)", "Material and Energy (Focus: storage materials)" and/or "Infections, inflammations and active ingredients" as well as the accent areas "Nutrition of humans and animals" and/or "Sustainable syntheses and processes".

Your teaching duties will amount to 8 SWS (weekly lecture hours) and cover the entire field of "Analytical Chemistry" in all undergraduate bachelor and master degree courses of the faculty involving chemistry, including chemistry as a subsidiary subject and all teacher training courses with chemistry as a main subject. Continuous development of course concepts including the use of digital media is expected. Teaching will be in German and English.

You should also promote the ongoing internationalization strategy within both the faculty and JLU, e.g. by helping to establish modules in English and through active contribution to existing and planned joint research projects. Commitment to graduate education e.g. in the Giessen Graduate Center for Natural Sciences and Psychology (GGN) will also be expected.

While employed at JLU, continued successful independent acquisition of external funding is expected, preferably from the DFG, BMBF and/or the EU as well as a commitment to externally funded joint projects.

Requirements:
We are seeking an internationally renowned personality who is an acknowledged expert in a current research field in instrumental analytical chemistry, for example in the field of mass spectrometry.

In addition to a qualification for scientific work, which is generally demonstrated by the high quality of the doctorate, a pedagogical aptitude appropriate to the specified teaching duties is required in order to allow the broadest possible representation of the subject in teaching. International networking and appropriate teaching skills in English are assumed. Teaching responsibilities require language competence in both German and English (German: language level C2, English: language level C1).

You are required to possess a university degree in natural sciences, preferably in Analytical Chemistry or a comparable field, an excellent doctoral degree in a relevant subject and additional academic achievements (proven e.g. by a postdoctoral qualification or peer-reviewed pertinent publications in the field of Analytical Chemistry). A record of successful independent acquisition of external funding should be proven.

Experience in academic teaching at a scientific university should also be proven. Ideally, excellent didactic skills can be documented by positive course evaluations. Experience in academic self-administration is desirable.

In case the candidate exceeds the basic age limit of 50 years, a civil servant appointment under 搂 66 Para. 3 sentences 2 and 3 Hessian Higher Education Act (HessHG) in conjunction with 搂 11 Hessian Career Regulation (HLVO) requires a specific functional interest.
