Hochschule Biberach (HBC) is a University of Applied Sciences specializing in the fields of construction, energy, biotechnology, and business administration.

W3 Professorship in "Cell Biology, Cell Culture Technology, and ATMPs"

Your Responsibilities

• Conducting practice-oriented teaching in Bachelor鈥檚 and Master鈥檚 programs, particularly in cell culture technology and Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs, cell or gene therapy) 
• Supervising and mentoring students, particularly in planning and conducting laboratory courses and scientific theses 
• Engaging in interdisciplinary collaboration within the university and actively participating in internal committees and projects to further develop degree programs, the faculty, and the university 
• Establishing and expanding applied research in the specified and related fields 
• Developing and enhancing continuing education programs

Your Profile

• Knowledge and experience in the fields of cell culture technology as well as cell therapy/immunology or gene therapy/virology 
• Experience in supervising and guiding students and young researchers 
• Proven research achievements in the specified or related fields 
• Commitment and enthusiasm for innovative and practice-oriented teaching 
• Willingness to participate in academic self-governance 
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, along with enthusiasm for working in an academic environment 
• Fluency in German and English

Professors at Hochschule Biberach are responsible for teaching fundamental subjects, in English and German language, participating in research and development projects, securing third-party funding in the university鈥檚 strategic focus areas, and actively contributing to the university鈥檚 self-governance.

Applicants are required to fulfil the duty task of university lecturers in accordance with 搂 46 LHG.

Applicant requirements:

• A relevant university degree in medicine, natural or engineering sciences. 
• Proven ability for scientific work, usually demonstrated through a Ph.D., ideally in cell biology, cell or gene therapy, biotechnology, or a related field. 
• Teaching qualifications, typically proven through experience in academic teaching or training. 
• Outstanding professional experience in applying or developing scientific knowledge and methods, including at least five years of professional practice, with a minimum of three years outside the university sector.

If appointed to a professorship for the first time, the employment relationship is typically established as a temporary civil servant (Beamter auf Probe) for three years in accordance with 搂 50 (1) LHG. If suitability is demonstrated and legal conditions are met, tenure as a lifetime civil servant (Beamter auf Lebenszeit) is intended. In exceptional cases, direct tenure may be possible.
