The Faculty of Natural Sciences invites applications for the position of a
Full Professor (W3) of Food and Health
at the Institute of Food Science and Biotechnology to be filled for the first time in the winter semester 2025/26.
The professorship is dedicated to research into the production of foods with alternative sources of protein, sugar, or fat and their effects on health. The focus can be on the production and characterization of alternative protein sources, such as precision fermentation, in vitro cultured meat, or biotechnologically produced carbohydrates. Relevant research topics could also include research into the role of macronutrients as matrix components and as structuring elements for flavor and texture or as carrier systems for micronutrients.
The professorship is to strengthen interdisciplinary research between the fields of food science and biotechnology as well as nutritional science and clinical nutrition by closely linking food technology and nutritional science expertise.
We are seeking an individual with a demonstrated history of internationally recognized research and a record of high-ranking, relevant publications, as well as the capacity to secure external funding. The professor will contribute to teaching the topics described above in German and English.
The position offers attractive conditions for first-time full professor appointees. Prerequisites for applicants are habilitation or an equivalent research and teaching record which may have been established during a Junior or Assistant Professorship.
The advertised position is tenured. If appointed as full professor for the first time, the University of Hohenheim reserves its right to probationary employment. With equal qualifications, preference will be given to candidates with disabilities.
